Online Logistics Degree and
Supply Chain Management Certification
We know how busy you
are. This program offers the ultimate in flexibility
for working
people. Learn logistics from
anywhere and at anytime.
The accreditations are primarily designed for
those already working in logistics or business, who want to gain a better
understanding of what logistics is and how it can provide a competitive edge to
their organization.
Build on your current knowledge to
work and move forward in your career!
These courses have been
designed in consultation with logistics and
supply chain leaders from Celestica, Intelli Trade,
Apotex, The
LCBO, Canadian
Tire, CBSA, Excel/SCM/Tibbett
& Britten, Tompkins Associates, Wheels International
and SCL Canada and are based on
current industry needs.
First, a series of six
logistics courses are
offered, with each course lasting seven weeks.
These courses form a comprehensive logistics
program. The Program covers the
following:
|
The
Logistics Management Certificate
|
|
The following six courses
provide an excellent foundation in logistics management: |
|
1) Logistics
Fundamentals
|
|
When anything moves, there’s a cost. If it
isn’t moving, there’s another cost. Optimizing product/information
logistics is arguably the biggest opportunity in business today. This
course teaches how any organization can reduce costs and improve
customer service. |
|
2) Inventory
Management
|
|
Inventory is a necessary evil. Managing it allows companies to access
working capital and realize bigger profits. This course uncovers the
huge potential of inventory management in controlling costs. |
|
3) Transportation
|
|
This
course examines the five modes of transportation, costs and pricing in
transportation, and how to choose the best mode and carrier for a
shipment. |
|
4) Warehousing
|
|
The modern warehouse needs the right
material handling equipment, storage conditions and information systems
to operate efficiently and maintain quality. Setting appropriate
warehouse management metrics enhances customer service and reduces
costs. |
|
5) Importing and Exporting
|
|
Globalization makes import/export document preparation and planning an
essential part of a well rounded logistics education. This course
provides a solid understanding of how to conduct business across
borders. |
|
6) Supply Chain
Management:
the Basics
|
|
A supply chain utilizes core competencies
to bring products and related information from raw materials to final
consumer at the lowest total cost. Logisticians are at the hub of
information sharing and are central to capturing the competitive
advantages that result. |
And, at a more advanced
level, four additional courses in supply chain management are offered for a
certificate in Logistics and Supply Chain Management. These cover supply chain
technology, integration & globalization strategies and tactics to improve
organizational competitiveness:
The
Supply Chain Management
Certificate
|
|
The following four
courses provide a comprehensive supply management foundation to
complement your logistics certification: |
1) The
Integrated Supply Chain
|
|
Effective
inter-organizational relationships are needed to efficiently manage the
flow of materials and information between members of the supply chain.
This course looks at the dynamics and conflicting objectives of
partnerships, and shows how to build relationships that provide a
sustainable competitive advantage. |
2) Purchasing
for the
Supply Chain
|
|
Purchasing involves much more than negotiating the lowest price.
Partners who provide higher quality, shorter cycle times, and access to
new technology deliver greater value and a lower total cost. |
3) Technology
for Supply Chain Management
|
|
The seamless flow of
information is as important in meeting customer expectations in a modern
organization as is the flow of goods. Students will interact with
applications, utilize current case studies, and learn the central role
that technology plays in Supply Chain Management. |
4) The
Global
Supply Chain
|
|
Global opportunities
abound. International business, law, and logistics are the current
business focus. Advanced understanding of the flow of products and
information among nations, cultures and regulatory regimes are a
strategic necessity. |
|
The
Logistics Management Diploma
|
|
Finally, a Diploma
in Logistics Management includes nine more courses and provides the
recipient with the equivalent of a full-time two year accreditation
without ever having to set foot in a school. The ultimate in flexible,
online and interactive logistics training. |
