Logistics - Course Descriptions
LSCM 1005 - Importing and Exporting
The purpose of this course is to introduce the student to basic import and export systems that are
applicable internationally and also the ones specific to Canada. It covers terminology, customs
procedures, import and export regulations, documentation, and tariff interpretation. The relationship
of these areas to other aspects of international logistics and business will be examined, as will the
role of technology in importing and exporting.

Use import/export terms and their acronyms, and define the scope and function of importing/exporting |

Prepare basic documents related to customs clearance, banking, and export documentation for importing/exporting goods |

Utilize the Harmonized System Tariff to determine the landed cost of goods and the feasibility of importing or exporting products |

Analyze global/domestic problems on currency, political change, culture, product embargoes, rates and regulations, and tariff drawbacks |
